How does climate change actually affect lung health?

WHO has warned that climate change poses potentially the greatest threat to global health in the 21st century. The new The Economist Intelligence Unit (The EIU) report looks at the direct and indirect evidence that links climate change to lung health.

The report is available here. In it, the EIU looks at the risks and impacts of heatwaves, pollen changes, wildfires, desert dust and floods, and explores the vital link between air pollution, climate change and lung health.

Featuring data by Partner Sadler Consultants, the report highlights the need for a collective action as recognized by the environmental and health sectors, as well as the European general public. Mass change is indeed needed, and most importantly the policies and systems in societies — controlled by governments and public authorities — need to support efforts to reduce emissions and tackle climate change.
